A two-vehicle accident occurred on June 21, 2026, at approximately 4:10 p.m. at the intersection of Kingston-Adelphi Road and State Route 159 in Kingston. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
According to the investigation, both vehicles were traveling southbound when traffic ahead suddenly stopped. The vehicle in front was able to brake in time, but the driver behind was unable to stop before making contact with the rear of the other vehicle.
The collision caused damage to both vehicles, but neither driver nor any passengers were injured. Deputies responded to the scene, spoke with those involved, and documented the accident.
After reviewing the circumstances, officers determined that the driver of the rear vehicle had been following too closely and was unable to maintain an assured clear distance. As a result, that driver was issued a citation.
The crash was considered a non-injury accident, and the scene was cleared after the investigation was completed. The incident serves as a reminder of how quickly traffic conditions can change and the importance of leaving enough space between vehicles to react safely.
