Fairfield Local Schools is preparing to welcome Mr. Matthew Murphy as its next superintendent, with the Board of Education expected to approve the appointment at its meeting on May 26, 2026. Pending that approval, Mr. Murphy will officially begin his role on August 1, 2026.

Mr. Murphy currently serves as the middle school principal at Huntington Local Schools and brings more than 26 years of experience as a teacher, principal, and district leader. Throughout the selection process, the Fairfield Local Board of Education highlighted his passion for students, strong leadership qualities, and commitment to building meaningful relationships across the school community.

Ron Friend, President of the Fairfield Local Board of Education, shared that Mr. Murphy stood out from the beginning. “Throughout the interview process, Mr. Murphy demonstrated a genuine passion for students, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the importance of relationships within a school community. We believe he is someone who will continue to build on the great things happening at Fairfield while helping lead our district into the future.”

Board Vice President Mrs. McIntosh echoed that confidence. “We are excited to welcome Mr. Murphy and look forward to his leadership as he continues building on the strong foundation already in place throughout our district.”
