Malita’s Place, located in Hillsboro, celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting hosted by the Highland County Chamber of Commerce on May 29, 2026. Family, friends, Chamber representatives, and community members gathered to welcome the new business and show their support. The shop is owned and operated by Malissia Burns.

Malissia and her sisters created Malita’s Place in memory of their mother, building a space that reflects creativity, craftsmanship, and community connection. The marketplace features nearly 30 vendors offering a wide variety of items that include primitives, collectibles, handmade goods, home decor, and unique specialty pieces. The diverse selection gives shoppers the opportunity to explore one of a kind items while supporting local makers and small businesses.

Malissia expressed her appreciation to the Chamber, her family, and the Hillsboro community for their support throughout the process of opening the store. She shared her gratitude for the warm welcome and the encouragement she has received from the community.
