HILLSBORO, Ohio — The City of Hillsboro is preparing to welcome thousands of visitors as the annual Festival of the Bells returns July 2–4, 2026. This year's theme, "Bells Through the Ages," celebrates the city's history while honoring America's 250th anniversary with three days of entertainment, family activities, and community pride.

The festival, which has become one of southern Ohio's most anticipated summer traditions, will feature free nightly concerts, local food vendors, carnival rides, craft booths, and a patriotic parade. Organizers say this year's celebration will blend long-standing traditions with new attractions to commemorate the nation's semiquincentennial.

Country music artist Chris Cagle is scheduled to headline the festival on Saturday evening, while Christian duo Caleb & John will perform on Thursday night following an opening performance by The Zugg Family. Additional local entertainment and community performances will take place throughout the weekend.

Saturday's festivities begin early with the Festival of the Bells 5K and Kids Fun Run before the annual parade steps off at 4 p.m. Downtown Hillsboro will also host a classic car, truck, and motorcycle show, giving visitors another opportunity to enjoy the city's Independence Day celebration.

The Festival of the Bells has celebrated Hillsboro's historic connection to the C.S. Bell Company and the community's bell-making heritage since 1976. Today, the event continues to bring together residents and visitors alike while supporting local businesses and showcasing the welcoming spirit of Highland County.

Festival officials encourage attendees to arrive early for popular events, enjoy the many local vendors, and take part in a weekend dedicated to honoring history, community, and patriotism. As Hillsboro celebrates another Fourth of July weekend, the ringing of the bells will once again serve as a symbol of tradition and hometown pride.
