Four Fairfield FFA members recently showcased their skills at the Ohio State Floriculture Career Development Event (CDE), held at the Pickaway County Fairgrounds.
Representing Fairfield were Jorja May, Emelia Roehm, Landry Teeters, and Lyla Cockerill. Competing against 69 schools from across the state, the team earned an impressive ninth‑place finish overall.
The Floriculture CDE challenges students to demonstrate their knowledge of the horticulture industry through a series of hands‑on and written activities. Participants are tested on plant identification, insect and disease recognition, greenhouse and floral industry practices, and a comprehensive written exam.
Fairfield also celebrated a standout individual performance from Emelia Roehm, who placed ninth out of 250 contestants statewide — securing a top‑10 finish among some of Ohio’s strongest floriculture competitors.
The team’s success highlights the dedication and hard work of these students as they continue to represent Fairfield FFA at the state level.
