WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio — A barn behind 1007 Clinton Avenue went up in flames early Sunday morning, prompting a rapid response from multiple fire departments and utility crews. The blaze, which broke out around 3 a.m. near the Fairview Avenue intersection, had already fully engulfed the structure when the Washington Fire Department arrived on scene.
Given the size of the barn and intensity of the fire, mutual aid was quickly requested from Wayne Township Fire and Concord Green Fire departments. Their efforts helped contain the fire and prevent further damage to nearby properties.
Arcing power lines on a pole next to the barn added another layer of danger. AES was called to the scene to address the downed lines, which had disrupted overhead power and cable services. Crews worked to make the area safe so firefighters could continue battling the flames.
Although no injuries were reported, a nearby garage suffered minor damage to a window. According to Capt. Casey Coil of the Washington Fire Department, the fire resulted in an estimated $30,000 property loss and $20,000 in lost contents.
By 10 a.m., utility crews from AES, Spectrum, and GlowFiber were stationed on Fairview Avenue to repair damaged infrastructure. Around noon, workers began cutting the top of the burned power pole, having already installed a new one. Power and cable lines were then transferred, marking the final phase of post-fire recovery efforts.
Officials have not yet released the cause of the fire, but investigation efforts are underway.
