Cohen Henson goes up strong during the Chillicothe Gus Macker, bringing intensity to the street court.
Cohen Henson, a 12‑year‑old baseball and basketball player, stays busy year‑round competing for multiple teams. He plays AAU basketball for Southern Ohio Storm, represents Fairfield in school basketball, and plays little league baseball at Mitchells Park for Southern Hills Community Bank.
During an interview, when Cohen was asked what had gotten him started in playing basketball and what keeps him motivated, he told The Leesburg Times that he enjoyed staying active year‑round and seeing how much he improved. He also says that watching his game grow motivates him even more to keep working to get better.
As we spoke with him, he talked more and more about what the season had taught him, as well as the goals he has been working toward since starting. He says, “This season has taught me that you have to give full effort to the entire game, it’s showed me how important defense really is and how much it can change the way a team plays.” When asked about his goals he says, “Currently, I am focused on getting better at dribbling and shooting the ball. I want to become more consistent and more skilled in both those areas.”
Here at The Leesburg Times, we can’t wait to see what practice and work can do to help these players succeed in the coming season. With Cohen competing in AAU, Fairfield basketball, and baseball at Mitchells Park, his dedication shows just how committed he is to growing as an athlete.
