A surprising culprit has been linked to a recent car crash in Blue Ash, Ohio—a cicada. The Blue Ash Police Department shared details of the incident on social media, posting a photo of a crashed Kia lying on its side.

According to police, the driver reported that a cicada unexpectedly entered the vehicle, causing a distraction that led to the accident. Fortunately, no one was injured in the crash.

"We're all well aware that these pesky cicadas don't respect personal space, including while driving," the department wrote in its post. "It may be a good idea to keep the windows up for the next several weeks. As you can see, a cicada attack can be dangerous."

Adding a touch of humor, the police noted that "the suspect fled the scene."

Cicadas, known for their loud buzzing and sudden appearances, have been emerging in large numbers across Ohio as part of their seasonal cycle. While they are generally harmless, their unexpected presence—especially inside vehicles—can lead to startling situations.

Authorities are reminding drivers to stay alert and consider keeping windows closed to avoid similar incidents.
