
LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Friday morning on State Route 243 in Perry Township, Lawrence County.
According to the Patrol, the crash happened around 9:04 a.m. when a 2015 GMC Sierra driven by 69‑year‑old Timothy R. Pemberton of Ironton was traveling west near milepost 7. Troopers say the pickup crossed the centerline, went off the left side of the roadway, and struck an embankment.
Pemberton was transported by Lawrence County EMS to King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky, where he was pronounced deceased. The Patrol confirmed that next of kin have been notified.
Investigators say neither drugs nor alcohol are suspected to be factors in the crash.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Perry Township Fire Department, Lawrence County EMS, and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office. The crash remains under investigation.
