Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Ohio (BBBS) will host its first-ever Highland County event on Saturday, September 13 at 10:00 AM, welcoming families, mentors, and supporters to Karnes Orchard, located at 8200 Worley Mill Road in Hillsboro.
The event celebrates the power of mentorship and highlights the urgent need for volunteer participation in Highland County, where some children have waited up to five years for a match. One such story involves a boy from Lynchburg, recently paired with his mentor Randall Wilkins, after years of waiting—underscoring the impact that a single connection can make.
Karnes Orchard, a long-standing agricultural destination and generous community partner, has sponsored the outing, which will bring together BBBS participants from across the organization’s five-county service area: Ross, Pike, Pickaway, Fayette, and Highland.
The gathering will feature orchard activities, light refreshments, and opportunities to learn more about BBBS’s mission to provide professionally supported, one-to-one mentoring relationships for children facing adversity. Staff will be available to answer questions and guide interested attendees through the process of becoming a mentor.
For more information about the event or how to get involved, contact Miranda Wilson at 740-851-9496 or visit the BBBS office at 173 W. 2nd Street in Chillicothe.
