In a shocking turn of events, authorities have confirmed that at least one person has survived the devastating crash of Air India Flight 171 in Ahmedabad, India. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, carrying 242 passengers and crew, went down shortly after takeoff, striking a medical college hostel and causing widespread destruction.

A Miracle Amid Tragedy

Ahmedabad Police Commissioner G.S. Malik initially reported that there were no survivors, but later confirmed that Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, a 40-year-old British national, was found alive in seat 11A. Ramesh, who was traveling with his brother, sustained injuries to his chest, eyes, and feet but managed to escape the wreckage.

"It all happened so quickly," Ramesh told reporters from his hospital bed. "When I got up, there were bodies all around me. I was scared. I stood up and ran. There were pieces of the plane everywhere."

Ongoing Rescue and Investigation

Authorities have recovered 204 bodies, but dozens remain unaccounted for, including Ramesh’s brother. The crash site, engulfed in flames and debris, has made recovery efforts challenging.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the crash. Early reports suggest the aircraft struggled to gain altitude, reaching only 625 feet before descending rapidly. Experts are analyzing flight data to understand what led to the tragedy.

International Response and Support

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the crash "heartbreaking beyond words," while British officials have pledged support for affected families. Air India has set up an emergency center to assist relatives seeking information about passengers.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities continue to provide relief and support to those impacted by this catastrophic event.
